What is INTERMITTENT FASTING?
Intermittent fasting is when you restrict your eating to a specific window of time during the day or week. For example, you may decide you will fast 16 hours of the day and eat only within an 8-hour window. Or you may fast all day, every other day, and eat your normal calories on your feeding days.
There are many ways to approach intermittent fasting, depending on your experience and goals. Each fasting protocol offers unique benefits to help you achieve your specific health needs.

Hello, I’m Nicki!
And I know exactly what it’s like to feel FRUSTRATED & EXHAUSTED trying to stick to a nutritious eating plan that will support your health and weight loss goals for the long term.
I’ve been there, spending every ounce of energy trying to make the “right” food choices all day. But let’s be real—relying on willpower alone just doesn’t work. Willpower feels like forcing yourself to do something you “should” do when deep down, you’d rather be doing something else. It sets up this constant battle inside you, like you’re fighting yourself even while trying to do what’s best for your body and mind.
I’m not new to fasting. I’ve been a fan for years, and I’ve seen incredible results. But I mostly kept coming back to it to maintain my weight, get my skin glowing, and reduce inflammation in my body. My go-to fasts were usually 3-5 days long (I even did a 14-day fast once!), just when I felt like I needed a reset.
But almost two years ago, everything shifted. I met my short king and landed a fantastic role writing for women thought leaders. Both have enriched my life in so many ways, but let’s just say… there was a lot more sitting, late nights, and countless foodie adventures with my love, both here in Montreal and abroad. I had drifted far from my “healthy path.”
Before I knew it, my skin was acting up—rashes, unexplained breakouts, and that relentless itch (all signs of autoimmune issues, by the way). My cravings were out of control (hello, gut imbalances!), and I was dealing with achy joints, constant fatigue, and the dreaded brain fog. 😫 Oh, and let’s not forget the weight that just wouldn’t budge, no matter what I did.
I knew I needed a serious reset.
I wanted to reclaim my health, but I wasn’t in the right place mentally or physically for a long fast like I’d done before. And jumping straight into a fast when you’re stressed is never a good idea! So, I decided to take it slow with some intermittent fasting.
Then I remembered I had this book on my Kindle: 45 Day Transformation by Cynthia Thurlow, all about intermittent fasting for women. I finally started reading it as I eased into IF, and wow—this book was a game-changer!
That book led me to read Fast Like a Girl by Mindy Pelz, Intermittent Fasting for Women by Megan Ramos, and Intuitive Fasting by Dr. Will Cole. Along with countless videos about fasting by Dr. Pradip Jamnadas and Dr. Jason Fung.
I was HOOKED. I felt so amazing that I felt that this was the message of health I wanted to share with more women. I enrolled in Precision Nutrition’s Fasting program and the rest is history.
Fast forward to the present and I’m feeling better than ever! Skin issues are under control, my joints are thanking me because I’m no longer torturing them with foods that cause inflammation. And I finally lost that stubborn 20lbs. And most importantly I no longer have all-consuming food cravings because I’m in CONTROL!

My fitness journey started about 20 years ago when my then football playing boyfriend introduced me to the gym.
The relationship didn’t work, but two decades later I can say that my relationship with fitness has stood the test of time. It has evolved a lot over the years but it has been a grounding constant in my life.
I say fitness instead of health when talking about the early days because to be very honest, while I looked “in shape” I actually had quite a toxic relationship with “health”.
Sure I didn’t miss that many gym sessions but I was engaging in a lot of negative self-talk because I was NEVER satisfied with my body or my results. I’d also cycle through weeks of going hard at the gym and reducing my calories by a ridiculous amount to counter the binge eating weeks I’d have.
This fueled cycles of intense training and strict eating with depression, self-sabotage and emotional eating. In short, I may have “looked good” but I couldn’t call myself “healthy.”
Eventually, took the initiative to research motivation and willpower as it relates to taking action for a healthier life.
Well, a new passion for understanding how our minds work developed. And my biggest takeaway was how our diets, sleep, and stress management impacted, motivation, willpower, mood, and cravings.
I began to implement what I was learning and it was like magic began to happen in my life. I began devouring all I could on the subjects of motivation, willpower, habit change, and mindset. I got certified as a: Functional Nutrition Health Coach, Cognitive Behavioural Coach, Rational Emotive Behavioural Coach and Goals Success Coach. I used what I had learned (and continue to learn) from books along with my certifications to upgrade how I live and how I coach with great results.
The best part is the methods I’ve learned work on ANY goal you may have. I’m still a baby on this self-development path, I still face challenges, but the shift in my mindset and approach means I’m able to navigate those challenges confidently, and without constantly draining my willpower.
